So, I’m super proud of my homeboy, Josh Rainwater, for having the brilliant idea to publish young, local talent from my hometown, Columbia, SC. This kid approached me at the end of the summer and asked me to contribute a piece to the project (which he then described as a half-size coffee-table magazine featuring local artists) with only the prompt of the theme, “firsts.”
Of course, I was like, “haaaay, I’ll do it!” So I submitted my stuff & took a few phonecalls from Josh asking me about inDesign and general layout business (this is his first time ever doing something like this, he’s a video guy), gave a mini-critique, and I ended up with an editor’s credit, holla!
He’s already sold tons’o’copies (IT COMES WITH A CD!) and made a name for the publication. It even got a shout-out in our school’s daily newspaper along with it’s killer live-show release party.
Anyway, I love knowing creative people, and I love when creative people are like, hey, let’s do something.
I’ll post my contributions later. Above are a few excerpts that pretty well illustrate what Strangers Magazine is all about.
